Another treasure from your gallery Dan. Beautiful as always. I wonder why they are called sunflowers?!

Thanks, Z! They are gorgeous, there's no doubt about it. I've heard several stories about how they got their name, but the one I prefer to believe is that the seed pod in the center looked like the sun, and the petals looked like the sun's rays. So, I guess it was natural for it to go from there. At least it makes some sense.

They are gorgeous, aren't they? This field was nearly 100 acres, and was at it's peak blooming stage. I was surrounded by so many blooms, it was difficult to pick just one to capture. Thanks very much for your comment. I appreciate it, as always.

I like how you capture this this sunflower without revealing the stalk. It somewhat makes it looks a little like it's resting on the leaves. Rather different from other sunflower shots that I have seen.

Thank you for a great comment. I try to arrange my compositions to eliminate distracting elements, and from your comments, it appears that I succeeded. Thanks again!

Thanks. The lighting was very soft when I shot this, and I think it helped me get that effect since I had to work with a very shallow depth of field to keep a high shutter speed. Thanks again.
