Mission accomplished! She's very beautiful, as is your capture of her Wn. Beautiful detail and light and her colours are gorgeous.

Thanks, Z! These are neat looking woodpeckers. We have others that are far prettier, but these are so common, and so much fun to watch, it's impossible not to photograph one when they show up. I have some shots of the males in my Gallery, and the only difference between the males and females is the amount of red on their heads. They really are nice to look at. Thanks again!

Another gorgeous shot! You have a fantastic back-yard. I am jealous in the extreme. Pity about the slightly unnatural perch although it is wood. :D
Nice work again.

Thanks for your comments, Ian. Yes, my backyard seems to have it's share of variety. I wish there were a few more species to show off right now, but that will have to wait a few weeks. This was actually a"grab shot". I had seen this woodpecker flying around and eating from a feeder, but I really didn't consider shooting her. When she landed right above me, I decided to give it a try. Thanks again!

Beautiful bird and capture=p love those markings.
Thanks! These woodpeckers are very common in my area, and they are usually overlooked by photographers for that reason. I really love to watch them, though, for the very markings that you mentioned.

very nice lighting !
Thanks! I wish I could take credit for the lighting, but she just happened to perch in a great location for the lighting I had to work with. I was just fortunate to be able to take advantage of the situation. Thanks again!
